“Because of it’s square shape and braided construction, 8 plait grips better in windlass anchor winches. You can also get more into a locker than 3 strand. It is highly recommended that you wet the line before first time use to firm up the fiber to get better wear over its life. Splicing is a bit challenging and the eye needs to be tight on the chain for the transition on the winch.

We can splice 1/4" & 5/16" Hot Galvanized or T-316 Stainless Steel, both are ISO Grade 4, onto either the 1/2" or 5/8", just call us up and  let us know how much chain you need.
